Meet the Team
Hello from Matt & Maria Cochrane! On any given day you might find us out and about in the DMV, where we’ve always called home. We may be at an early morning soccer game cheering on our boys (with large coffees in hand), or jointly hosting an open house to give potential buyers the details on their next home plus decorating ideas. You also might find us rehabbing our 100+ year old vacation home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
It’s that passion about homes that led to Dovetail Properties & Design.

As a native Northern Virginian, Matt’s deep local market knowledge is rooted in personal experience and a lifelong connection to the area. Born and raised in Falls Church and currently residing in Arlington with his wife and young sons, Matt loves nothing more than to tell his clients the story of his home as they embark on their own real estate journey. Paired with his superlative market knowledge, it’s his personal connection to the region and the people who live and work here that allows Matt to skillfully guide his clients and help them write their own chapter in the place he has always called home.
Matt brings an open and honest attitude and prides himself on making the real estate experience as easy and seamless as possible. His no pressure approach is geared towards building genuine relationships where his clients will feel comfortable and know that they’re in the hands of an expert.
In his spare time, Matt coaches youth baseball and basketball, volunteers at local organizations such as the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), and serving on the Board of Directors for the annual Arlington County Fair.

You can usually find Maria refinishing an old dresser, scouring a barn sale for unique pieces or checking out the new furniture at her favorite stores. Maria’s love of design started with the renovation of their 100 year old Eastern Shore home. It has since grown through years of virtual design work for her business, Atlantic Virtual Staging and formal training at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
Maria is passionate about working with clients to create a space that is clean, inviting and functional. By learning about the client’s lifestyle and how they use the space, she designs a home uniquely suited to their needs. With her Graduate Certificate in Organization Performance Improvement and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Maria enjoys applying her knowledge of process improvement to maximize the functionality and efficiency of a space.
